Bidossessi Bertrand TIMA
Agronomist, in charge of bamboo cultivation
VieVert Bénin SARL
Benin
Bidossessi Bertrand TIMA is VieVert's Agronomist in charge of bamboo cultivation — the person responsible for everything bamboo on the ground in Benin.
Before any title, Bertrand is a bamboo fanatic. He chose the plant as his life's study: trained at the Université de Parakou's Faculty of Agronomy, he earned his Master's in Water and Soil Engineering with thesis research on soil carbon sequestration under bamboo, and deepened that study through hands-on fieldwork with the plant itself.
At VieVert, Bertrand guides the full life of the plant: nursery and cultivation, plantation establishment, and the preservation of standing groves. And he carries the knowledge outward — educating farmers, training field teams, and making bamboo part of community life, so the expertise takes root in people as deeply as the plant takes root in soil.
Every culm VieVert will ever grow begins with his hands, his science, and his conviction.
